What is it that makes us love the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta? Its 731-hp, 6.3-liter V-12 engine? Its gorgeous Italian styling? Its well-appointed cabin? It’s 211-mph top speed? To find out, road test editor Chris Nelson put the Ferrari F12 berlinetta through its paces at Michigan’s Gingerman Raceway.
From behind the wheel, Nelson praises the sound the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta exhales from its 12-cylinder engine, and lauds its race car-like steering feel. The electronically controlled suspension helps keeps Nelson make the most of the Ferrari on Gingerman’s winding curves, while the 6.3-liter V-12 allows him to touch 140 mph on the track’s back straight.
At the same time as enjoying its performance, Nelson praises the car’s cabin and the fact that its grand tourer-style body can actually accommodate enough luggage for a vacation. The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is far more than a track car, and it shows.
“The F12 loves the track very much, but it’s really built for long-distance road trips that need to be done comfortably and style,” Nelson says. “The F12 is as plush and pleasant to drive as an Audi or Mercedes.”
