Dodge has just launched what may be the world’s most lucrative game of hide-and-seek. As part of a new ad campaign for the 2012 Dodge Journey, the company has parked three Journeys across the nation and will post clues to the cars’ locations online. If you find one of the cars, you get to keep it.
The new ads tout the Journey as the “Search Engine for the Real World,” implying that the car is perfect for buyers who like exploring the country, as opposed to surfing the Web from their couch. The commercials show drivers using the Journey to carry kayaks, mountain bikes, and more. The first ad, which hints at the location of a Journey in the western part of the U.S., went live today on Dodge’s YouTube channel and television. A second spot, disclosing the location of a Journey hidden in the Midwest, goes live September 16, while the final east coast ad will debut September 23. The contest ends September 27.
Dodge says that “nearly every frame” of the 30-second commercials offers hints as to the whereabouts of each Journey. To win, you simply need to find the car, stare into a camera positioned nearby, and say, “My name is (name), and this is my Dodge Journey.” There will be live video feeds of each car available on Dodge’s YouTube page. The short video below explains the contest in more detail.
The 2012 Dodge Journey is a five- or seven-passenger SUV. It comes with a choice of 2.4-liter inline-four or 3.6-liter V-6 engines, with both front- and all-wheel drive available. Pricing starts at just $19,745, including a $750 destination charge. Or you could try to win one for free by participating in this contest.
