Feature Flick: Corvette 427 Convertible Blows out 60 Candles for its Anniversary

How does a 60-year-old model celebrate a birthday? Well, if the model in question is America’s longest running sports car; you take the latest limited edition version: a 2013 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Convertible through some winding back roads. The LS7 V-8 screams as it bends the corner blowing out 60 candles in the process.

As General Motors prepares the seventh-generation Corvette for its 2014 debut, the automaker leaves C6 fans with the fastest and most powerful drop-top version of the Corvette ever produced: the 2013 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Convertible. The limited edition drop-top is powered by the Corvette Z06’s 505-horsepower 7.0-liter LS7 V-8. The 427-cubic-inch V-8 produces 470 lb-ft of torque and is mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission.

It also nabs the Corvette Z06’s Magnetic Selective Ride Control, 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels with Michelin PS2 tires. Black Cup or chrome ZR1-style wheels are optional. A carbon fiber raised hood, Z06-like fenders, and floor panels are also included.

The 2013 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Convertible comes with the 60th Anniversary Package – which is available on all 2013 Corvette models. The anniversary package features Arctic White paint. The interior is wrapped in Blue Diamond leather with suede accents. Convertible models get a blue soft-top. Gray brake calipers and extra badging round out the package.

The public first saw the 2013 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Convertible at the Chicago Auto Show in February, but the first one had already been auctioned off at Barrett Jackson a month earlier. The limited edition Corvette sold for $600,000.
