Feature Flick: Cadillac Escalade tuned by Hennessey takes on the 2011 Nissan GT-R

The Cadillac Escalade is commonly compared to other luxury sport-utility vehicles on how well they pamper their occupants to the country club. But what happens when the Escalade grows a pair of turbos?

That’s exactly what the folks at Hennessey did with the blinged-out behemoth. The tuner’s HPE1000 kit adds a huge list of engine upgrades including two turbos, high flow cylinder heads, and a Hennessey HPE1000 camshaft, which gives the Escalade 1,000 horsepower and a 0 to 60 time of 3.3 seconds. All of a sudden it’s ready to take on other all-wheel drive monsters like the 2011 Nissan GT-R supercar.

The 485-horsepower Godzilla is a tad slower with a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds and the 0.1 second deficit is only magnified by the Hennessey Escalade’s unfair jump, as shown in the video. But take these two out on the track and we’re sure the 5,694 -pound Escalade would be eaten alive by the agile and well-balanced GT-R.
