Feature Flick: Bugatti Veyron Clips Corolla During Test Drive

Monday got you down? Things could be worse — for instance, you could have hit a stopped car within the first 30 seconds of test driving a used (but still priced in the million-dollar realm) 2008 Bugatti Veyron.

Unfortunately, that’s precisely what one pour soul in Chicago managed to do last week. The driver, attempting to back the white-on-black Veyron away from the dealer’s lot, somehow proceeded to back directly into a Toyota Corolla, which had stopped for a red light. The driver then managed to scrape the chin spoiler while pulling forward.
The end result? According to, the damages totaled in the neighborhood of $30,000, in addition to the driver’s bruised ego sustained after bystanders uploaded the entire incident to YouTube. The dealer’s website, the car, with 8613 miles on the clock, suggests the Bug is still for sale — but we’re not entirely certain if the driver is still welcomed by salespeople with open arms.
Sure, giant rear buttresses, a towering engine intake, and a raised rear spoiler don’t exactly make for great rearward visibility (the aero-tuned Super Sports is worse yet) , but we can’t help but think checking the Veyron’s good old-fashioned side-view mirrors would have revealed a chunk of Corolla fender lurking behind the car. As the adage — oft engraved into the mirror surfaces — goes, objects may be closer than they appear…
