Audi’s latest S cars — the new S6, S7, and S8 — are powered by a new turbocharged V-8 engine that is not only powerful, but also sounds pretty sweet. Need proof? Check out the following videos.
As we reported during the Frankfurt Motor Show, Audi is stuffing a new, direct-injection, twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine into the 2012 S6, S7, and S8. It’s rated at 420 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque in the S6 and S7, and will be mated to an Audi S Tronic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. In S8 form, the engine is cranked up to 520 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque, but is fitted to an eight-speed gearbox.
The videos also show off plenty of the visual goods including the interior, which, not surprisingly, doesn’t disappoint. The seats in the S7 are especially drool-worthy and are wrapped in light gray leather with contrasting, diamond-pattern stitching. The last video may be hard to watch – that’s the S6 Avant, the painfully awesome wagon that unfortunately won’t be making it to our shores. Otherwise, enjoy!
