a href="http://www.automobilemag.com/audi/">Audi has had some of the most memorable Super Bowl commercials in the past few years. This year, the German automaker is apparently taking the audience to prom in a 2013 S6.
Despite released the commercial in advance of the big game, Audi has a catch – there are three possible endings, and the automaker wants viewers to pick which one will air during the Super Bowl. The ad starts out with a forlorn teenager getting ready to go to prom sans-date. In an effort to cheer him up, his father tosses him the keys to a brand-new 2013 Audi S6. Instilled with confidence from the 420-hp twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, our hero strides confidently into prom and grabs the prom queen for a big kiss. It’s every outcast’s dream come true, which is until the prom king gives our daring hero quite the black eye.
Here’s where viewers get to make a pick: all three options are fairly benign and feature the protagonist driving away in the S6 with his black eye. Option one (“Worth It”) shows him driving away, screaming in victory; option two (“Buddies”) features him in the Audi with his friends freaking out saying “I can’t believe that just happened. So cool.” The final choice (“Tradition”) has our hero finding out that he has more in common with his father than just a love of the S6.
Audi is taking votes on its YouTube page now until midnight eastern time tonight to decide on the final ending. The full commercial will debut online on Saturday, January 26, a week before it goes live during Super Bowl XLVII.
