Chevrolet announced a new marketing campaign for the 2014 Impala that features Grammy-award winning musician John Legend. Legend’s new single, “Made to Love,” is the basis for this first clip which debuted nationally during Game 7 of the NBA Finals on ABC.
Legend says his first car was a Chevrolet and, growing up in the Midwest, he is an advocate for the resurgence of Detroit and the American auto industry. The ad displays Legend driving an Impala through New York City while he gains inspiration for his music and “Made to Love” plays in the background. The song will be on Legend’s new album “Love in the Future” which will debut September 3.
Developed by Spike DDB, Spike Lee’s advertising agency, in partnership with commercial director Anthony Mandler, the campaign will continue with additional online videos, social media content, and multimedia advertisements.
The Impala first became a part of the Chevrolet lineup in 1958 and quickly became an iconic model for the brand. The Impala was completely redesigned for 2014 and showcases a more emotional styling direction for Chevy’s large sedan. The 2014 Impala starts at $27,535 with destination and features two powertrain options: a 195hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine or a 305hp, 3.6-liter V6 engine, both mated to a six-speed automatic; the eAssist mild-hybrid with a 2.4-liter I-4 paired with an electric motor will come later this year.
