Where better to put a 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante through its paces than southern California, where sunshine and winding mountain roads are abundant? This new video shows the drop-top supercar doing exactly that in Palm Springs, California.
The 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante replaces the DBS Volante as the company’s top-rung open-top sports car. Beneath its long, sculpted hood is a 5.9-liter V-12 engine that pumps 565 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque through a six-speed automatic transmission. Use that power all at once, and 60 mph arrives in 4.1 seconds on the way to a 183-mph top speed. The powered soft top can be raised or lowered at speeds up to 30 mph, if you should deign to drive this carbon fiber-skinned supercar so slowly.
As we discovered the last time we saw a 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante on video, the car’s V-12 engine produces a fabulous assortment of sounds as it is put to work as the car is driven out of Palm Springs, where the standard carbon-ceramic brakes and adaptive suspension receive a workout as the Volante is hustled along a winding mountain pass beneath clear blue California skies. The price for all this automotive indulgence? A cool $300,820 before options.
