Feature Flick: 2012 BMW M5 Highlighted in City and on Rural Roads

We’re looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the 2012 BMW M5, but until we get that chance, BMW is sating our appetite with another short video showcasing the new super sedan.

Whereas the last teaser video of the M5 showed the sports sedan demonstrating its performance potential on track, this video shows the car in tamer circumstances. The slickly edited video highlights the BMW M5’s design features and shows the car driving through a large city as well as winding rural roads. Above the musical soundtrack, we can hear the low-pitched exhaust note emanating from the engine of the M5.

That engine is a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine, which offers up 555 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission transmits power to the rear wheels. As befits a high-performance BMW, the M5 gets uprated suspension, larger brakes, and wide 19-inch wheels wearing sticky performance tires. The car goes on sale here in spring 2012 — and we can’t wait.
