Feature Flick: 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS or Space Shuttle?

The new 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS is the most powerful production car to ever come out of Stuttgart, but according to Porsche, it’s more of a rocket ship than a car.

In Porsche’s promotion video, the car is seen flying around a track with the space shuttle (wearing European license plates) launching in the background. Although we doubt the 911 GT2 RS would be of much use when trying to repair the International Space Station, it’s clear this is one fast 911. The driver steps into the car, rockets off the line, and slides the car through some spirited corners at drift angles that would have us dialing 9-1-1.

Porsche closes the video showing the driver exiting the car, wearing an astronaut’s training suit. Pretty cool, but we doubt NASA will ground its fleet of Northrop T-38s in favor of a garage filled with 911s…
