Ford had numerous limited editions of its last-generation Mustang, and it looks as if the 2011 Ford Mustang will be the same. The latest special edition of the car, the DUB Edition 2011 Ford Mustang V-6, is a collaboration between Ford, DUB, and Roush.
Interestingly, the DUB Edition Mustang is based only on the new 3.7-liter V-6 pony car with no planned V-8 version. Although only one engine will be available with the special edition car, buyers can order any one of the three body styles available — coupe, convertible, or glass roof — and it can be had with a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission.
As a special edition car done by Roush and DUB, it features several unique items including 20-inch TIS wheels with high-performance Pirelli tires, a Roush front fascia, splitter, quarter window louvers, lowered springs, a DUB stripe package, and DUB logos embroidered in the front headrests. Buyers can choose from four exterior paint colors — black, Grabber Blue, Race Red, or Ingot Silver — and one interior color, black. The DUB Edition Mustang also comes standard with the lower 3.31 rear axle ratio to provide more “spirited” acceleration.
All of the changes to the Mustang are intended to broaden the car’s appeal from just the traditional muscle car buyers. Ford hopes the customization package available from the factory will lure a new set of Mustang buyers and customizers into showrooms.
“The Ford Mustang is the most customized vehicle in the world, and this collaboration pushes the boundaries even further,” said Fritz Wilke, manager for Ford’s Mustang brand. “We’re proud of our relationship with DUB and Roush and how they worked together to bring a new look to Mustang, helping the 2011 DUB Edition Mustang V-6 appeal to a whole new audience.”
The DUB Edition 2011 Ford Mustang hits dealerships this fall. Pricing will be released closer to the car’s on-sale date.
