Vaughn Gittin Jr. is a successful, well-known driver in the Formula Drift series who competes with a Ford Mustang GT. Now, you, too, can drive like Gittin Jr. in a 2011 Ford Mustang GT RTR developed by Gittin himself — on a closed circuit, of course.
The 2011 Mustang can already hold its own on a race track, but the new RTR package developed by Gittin Jr. enhances the car’s handling. The RTR package includes the Ford Racing handling pack with performance-tuned dampers, anti-roll bars, and spring, as well as larger 19-inch unique Mustang RTR wheels. As per Gittin Jr.’s Falken-sponsored Mustang, the wheels are shod with Falken FK-452 tires. Ford Racing mufflers round out the RTR performance package upgrades.
In addition to unique wheels, the RTR package also includes several other exterior enhancements. A new front lip spoiler is added along with a rear diffuser and aluminum rear spoiler. The RTR package also adds a stripe package that outlinines the power bulge on the hood, and runs a pinstripe from the front to the rear fenders. Special RTR emblems on the sides and rear of the car complete the exterior enhancements.
Opting for the RTR package also nets you some unique interior details. Special RTR emblems, mimicking the ones seen on the exterior, appear on the gauges, a blacked-out shifter knob, and the bespoke floor mats.
Although inspired by Gittin Jr.’s V-8 Mustang GT drift car, the RTR package is available on both V-6 and V-8 equipped Mustangs. The package, which is dealer-installed, will be available at select dealerships beginning later this year.
