At the 2007 New York auto show, General Motors showed three subcompact concept cars, which the company characterized as being in competition with each other for the right to head to production. The lime green, two-door Beat emerged the winner, and GM has now released a photo of the production version, which will take the name Spark.
Although past GM statements suggested that the U.S. market was unlikely to receive the new subcompact, the company now says that the Spark will be sold here, starting in 2011 (other markets will get it as soon as next year). The production version, which sports four doors, will be unveiled in the flesh at the Geneva motor show in March.
