In a slideshow presented last week at an investors’ conference, General Motors confirmed that the 2015 Cadillac Escalade will go on sale in spring 2014. A Cadillac representative told us that the new Escalade will debut publicly this fall, before going on sale next year.
The slideshow itself doesn’t reveal much more about the 2015 Cadillac Escalade than its on-sale date. However, our spy photographers have caught the new luxury model testing both on its own and with a group of GM large SUVs. The new Escalade will be mechanically paired with new versions of the Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, and the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL. The SUVs will use an adapted version of the platform that underpins the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks.
Under the hood, the 2015 Cadillac Escalade will probably offer the same 5.3- and 6.2-liter V-8 engines as the Silverado and Sierra. Eventually, however, we expect the luxury SUV to add the twin-turbo V-6 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission found in the 2014 Cadillac CTS and XTS. The interior of the new Escalade will be more highly differentiated from the Chevrolet and GMC SUVs; Cadillac global vice president said last year that the new Escalade’s interior would be much more premium so as to command higher prices.
