Land Rovers are known for their stalwart off-road capabilities, but are usually driven by people. In the brand’s new advertizing campaign however, an animated clay figure named Clay Mason climbs behind the wheel of a new Freelander 2, known as the LR2 here, and shows off its capabilities, both on and off the road.
In addition to the new claymation advertisement, Land Rover is launching several accompanying videos today. One is a film about the fictional character Clay Mason. It’s an interview with him about his thoughts on creating the film and his hectic schedule during the shoot. Another video is about the making of the film, but this time includes the real human beings behind the process.
Two more videos are featured on the brand’s YouTube page are of the Land Rover in action in Canada. A documentary-style film details a child and his father’s trip to the smallest dessert in the world, Carcross in Canada, in an LR2. The last film found on the YouTube page is the new LR2’s official launch video.
The films officially launch online today and will begin showing as advertisements in the UK in January 2011. Click here to check out the videos on Land Rover’s YouTube page.
