The Problem: A two-stage forging method was used to build the output shaft on certain 8-speed automatic transmissions, resulting in a shaft vulnerable to fracture. The recall will affect vehicles with a specific set of equipment: 2013 Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Ram 1500 vehicles which are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission, as well as four- or all-wheel-drive and a V-6 engine. No injuries or accidents as a result of this defect have been reported.
The Fix: Free of charge, Chrysler will inspect the automatic transmission shafts and replace the transmission assembly if necessary. A single-stage forging method is now in place for transmission shaft production.
Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 5663 total Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300, and Ram 1500 vehicles from the 2013 model year. 4,194 of these vehicles are in the U.S., with 1,424 in Canada and the remaining 45 vehicles outside North America.
2013 Dodge Dart Mopar ‘13
The Problem: Some 2013 Dodge Dart Mopar ’13 models have incorrectly installed front-seat-mounted side airbags. It is possible that this airbag may not deploy when it is supposed to in the event of a crash.
The Fix: Chrysler will inform owners of the recall, and dealers will inspect and if necessary re-install the airbag free of charge.
Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 374 Dodge Dart Mopar ’13.
The Problem: The weight-sensitive passenger airbag sensor in 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL63, SL65, and SL550 models may not detect a very light person sitting in the front passenger seat. If an accident were to occur in this case, the passenger side airbag would consequently not deploy.
The Fix: Mercedes-Benz will inform owners of the possible defect, and dealers will replace the airbag sensor as well as the entire passenger side seat cushion free of charge.
Number of Vehicle Potentially Affected: 130 2013 Mercedes SL-Class.
2012-2014 McLaren 12C
The Problem: The recall affects McLaren 12C Spider and Coupe models originally sold or currently registered in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. High temperatures and humidity can cause the windshield wiper motors to jam or malfunction.
The Fix: McLaren will replace the wiper motors free of charge, and the company will also extend a lifetime warrantee on wiper motors to vehicles outside the recall area.
Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 376 2012-2014 McLaren 12C Coupe and Spider.
