Though the details of the Fiat-imposed reorganization of Chrysler are relatively scarce, the two automakers will do their best to present themselves as a happy family next month at the Frankfurt auto show. They are reportedly expected to share floor space at the show, displaying their vehicles side by side.
The partners’ nine brands — Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, and Maserati — will reportedly occupy the majority of one of the halls at the show, with a Hyundai booth taking up the remaining hall space. This differs from the original floorplan (and the current layout, according to the Frankfurt IAA’s official website). Sergio Marchionne, the CEO of both companies, will not unveil his product plans for Chrysler or Fiat at the show, according to Chrysler spokesman Gualberto Ranieri.
Although Marchionne’s final vision for the lineups of Chrysler and Fiat are still under wraps, it seems likely that Dodge and Alfa Romeo brands will likely line up together, with Alfa Romeos being sold in the U.S. as Dodges and vice versa for Europe. The 500 will be the first Fiat vehicle available in the U.S. under the new partnership, and it could be ready by as early as next year.
Chrysler will have five vehicles on display, including updated versions of the Dodge Caliber, Jeep Compass, and Jeep Patriot, all of which will benefit from improved interiors and a 2.2-liter diesel engine for the European market.
