Chevrolet Releases New Impala Midnight Edition Appearance Package
Package adds special wheels, grille.
Recalling the stealthy looks of the mid 1990's Chevrolet Impala SS, the new Chevrolet Impala Midnight Edition is an appearance package that darkens the overall appearance of the sedan. The Midnight Edition package begins with Jet Black paint and with color-matched side mirrors. Special 19-inch machine-faced wheels with black accented spokes give the Impala a more aggressive stance, along with a black grille and grille surround on the front fascia. The front and rear Chevrolet bowties are black, along with a black trunk-mounted spoiler.
On the inside, the Midnight Edition Impala features a Jet Black interior, with special sport pedals.
The Midnight Edition package is available on the 2016 Chevrolet Impala 1LT, 2LT, and LTZ trims levels, with prices starting from $995 and extending to $1,595 on top of the car's standard price tag.
The 2016 Chevrolet Impala Midnight Edition is available with either the base 2.5-liter four cylinder engine producing 196 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque, or the larger 3.6-liter V-6 pumping out 305 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque.
We have driven the current generation Chevrolet Impala quite a bit, and we like the big, reassuring confidence it conveys on the road. The sharp styling attracted plenty of looks when we piloted the Impala around the Great Lakes soon after the car first released, and this new Midnight Edition should attract even more attention.
The Impala enjoyed strong sales when the redesigned model was released for the 2014 model year, but has unfortunately seen some if its popularity slip, so Chevrolet hopes this special edition will boost sales.
The main bulk of Midnight Edition production will be available for the 2016 model year, with only a very small number of 2015 2LT Midnight Editions with the 2.5-liter will be made available for the 2015 model year.
