Chevrolet Cruze Falls Behind Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic in October Sales

The Chevrolet Cruze’s brief dominance at the top of the compact car sales chart has come to an end in October, as sales of the bow-tie sedan fell back to the number three spot behind the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic. The Ford Focus remained in fourth place, while the Kia Forte overtook the Nissan Sentra for eighth place.

With 20,949 units sold last month, the Toyota Corolla (sales count the Matrix hatchback) regained its sales crown, beating the Honda Civic’s 20,687 units sold and the Chevrolet Cruze’s 19,121 units sold. Despite its second-place finish in October, the Civic still leads the Corolla in year-to-date sales by about 11,000 units.

Mazda3 sales numbers slipped significantly in October, giving the Volkswagen Jetta a bigger lead. The Dodge Dart contributed a respectable 5455 units to Chrysler’s overall monthly sales, and 4738 Subaru Imprezas were sold.
