Center Stacked: Toyota Prius Minivan Teases its Interior

Toyota’s Prius range is headed for expansion. Pushing beyond the current Prius sedan, now in its third generation, Toyota will be unveiling a Prius minivan early next year to expand the hybrid platform’s market. While we’ll have to wait to see the whole vehicle in one glance, Toyota is tiding the eager over with several teaser images – this interior image being the latest to hit Toyota’s Facebook page.

The Prius minivan (potentially to be called Prius Alpha) gets a hanging center stack similar to the second-generation Prius sedan, rather the long, sweeping console that the current Prius sedan features. The gear selector is located to the left, again, a la second-gen Prius, but the display and controls are all thoroughly modern. A row of three vents lines the top of the stack and both start button and electric parking brake reside above the gear selector.

In a previous teaser image, we saw the Prius MPV silhouetted behind the current Prius sedan, showing that vehicle’s taller roofline and slightly longer body. The overall profile seems to fall right in line with the sedan, just expect larger dimensions in just about every capacity.

As we learn more about the Prius minivan, we’ll keep you informed. The hybrid’s popularity in American would have us believe the world debut will be at one of the early 2011 U.S.-based auto shows, either Detroit, Chicago, or New York.
