If 510 hp isn’t enough for you, don’t fret. Jaguar may have a more potent iteration of the XFR’s 5.0-liter V-8 in store. The guys at Motor Trend recently spotted the British marque testing what could be the rumored XFR-S at the Nürburgring, barely covered by camouflage.
Given the minimalist camo job, this mule could be close to production-ready. The only features covered are the front fascia, beefier side sills, a small section on the sides of the rear bumper, and the small trunk spoiler. That new front fascia has intake openings that look wide enough to rival those of its proposed competitor, the 2013 BMW M5. The rear diffuser is also more prominent, which is further evidence that this is a test mule for a higher-performance XFR.
Standard XF models equipped with the V-8 produce a still-compelling 385 hp. Stepping up to the XF Supercharged brings output to 470 hp, while choosing the current range-topper XFR gets you 510 hp. You can likely expect the XFR-S to boast the same 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque as its stablemate, the XKR-S, along with an upgraded suspension, and larger brakes, wheels, and tires.
