Can’t Wait For AMG? Brabus Upgrades New Mercedes-Benz SLK

German tuner Brabus has released a number of power and cosmetic upgrades for the new Mercedes-Benz SLK, the automaker’s smallest roadster. From new wheels to quad tailpipes and interior accessories, Brabus has the 2012 SLK covered.

For the body Brabus has tweaked the daytime running lights and, more importantly, added a two-piece front lip spoiler that helps reduce lift on the front axle. To further reduce lift, an available trunk lid mounted spoiler and diffuser have been integrated into the factory bumper. Tying the front and rear styling together are side skirts that are said to visually widen the rear fenders.

Brabus offers one-piece and multi-piece Monoblock wheels in 17-inch through 20-inch sizes. Completing the roadster’s look is a set of sport springs that lower the car 1.2 inches and are designed to work with the factory shocks as well as the oversized rim and tire packages.

Currently engine upgrades are only available for four-cylinder models like the SLK200 and SLK250. The Brabus ECO PowerXtra CGI adds 26 hp and 22 lb-ft of torque to the SLK200 model.

There are two options for the SLK250 engine. The standard Brabus ECO PowerXtra CGI takes it from a stock 204 hp to 230 hp. If that’s not enough power, another model includes a larger intercooler and an electronically controlled sport wastegate valve that nets an additional 10 hp and a total of 273 lb-ft of torque during overboost mode. Brabus claims the upgrades for the SLK250 will push the turbocharged four-cylinder from rest to 62 mph in 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 154 mph.

The Brabus stainless-steel sport exhaust features the tuner’s signature quad tailpipes, which provide an aggressive sound and complete the exterior changes.

The SLK’s interior hasn’t been left out — accessories include high-gloss polished stainless-steel scuff plates with a Brabus logo and aluminum pedals and shifter. Custom Mastik leather and Alcantara are available, too.
