An Orange County, California, company wants to sell you a new sports car called the Rezvani Beast. The car is based on the wild, body-less Ariel Atom, but with new carbon-fiber bodywork applied.
The new body, made entirely from carbon fiber, was designed by Rezvani Automotive Design and is manufactured in partnership with California’s N2A Motors. It retains the Ariel Atom’s open-top look, but not only protects occupants from wind, rocks, and spray, but is said to improve aerodynamic downforce. Aggressive, angular lines define the Rezvani Beast’s look, with a low front splitter, large air intakes, scalloped doors, a speedster-like sloped decklid, and a centrally-mounted exhaust beneath skinny, Jaguar F-Type-like taillights.
The Rezvani Beast comes with two different engine options. The 300 model has a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine rated for 315 hp. With power routed to the 19-inch rear wheels by a six-speed manual transmission and a curb weight of just 1470 pounds, the Beast 300 hits 60 mph in a claimed 2.9 seconds. The Beast 500 uses a supercharged and turbocharged 2.4-liter inline-four rated for 500 hp, giving it a claimed 0-to-60-mph time of 2.7 seconds.
To keep that performance in check, all versions of the Rezvani Beast come with Alcoa four-piston brake calipers, Bilstein adjustable shock absorbers, and sticky Toyo R888 tires. The Beast also features a removable windshield and a roll cage.
To entice buyers, the first two copies of the Rezvani Beast 300 and 500, dubbed the Launch Editions, are a little cheaper. The 300 Launch Edition starts at $99,500, while the regular car costs $115,000; the 500 Launch Edition is $124,900, whereas the standard version costs $135,000. Though it’s a hefty price tag, all Beast 500 buyers also get a free day of driving instruction at a race track.
If you’ve already got an Ariel Atom and want to turn it into a Beast, Rezvani charges $49,000 to create a Beast 300 and $69,000 for a Beast 500. Although the Rezvani Beast can be ordered now, the company warns it can take three to five months for each car to be built and delivered, as it is a low-volume model.
