C. Robert Kidder to replace Nardelli at Chrysler

Once Chrysler emerges from bankruptcy and enters into an alliance with Fiat, C. Robert Kidder will be the Chairman. Kidder will not become the CEO of Chrysler–most insiders expect Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne to also be CEO of Chrysler.

Chrysler claims to Kidder’s 40 years of relevant experience for the job, but his only direct experience with the automotive industry came from a consulting gig with Ford. The highlights of Kidder’s career include being chairman of Borden Chemical Inc. and Duracell International Inc.Currently, Kidder is serving on the boards of Morgan Stanley, Schering-Plough Corporation, and Microvi Biotech Inc. as well as Chairman and CEO of 3Stone Advisors LLC, an investment firm that focuses on clean-tech companies.

Here’s what Kidder had to say in the statement released by Chrysler:

“I am confident that Chrysler will emerge from Chapter 11 a lean and powerful competitor, combining its own rich history of innovation with Fiat’s technology and expertise to invigorate the American car market and to challenge other car companies around the globe.”
