Build It: 2012 Volkswagen Beetle Configurator Maxes At $30,865

/strong>With the new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle set to arrive in a few months, the automaker has now launched a digital means for you to build your dream bug. If you’re looking for a bargain Beetle, a base model can be purchased for as little as $20,565 (including the $770 destination charge), but a fully-loaded turbocharged Bug will command close to $30,865.

The 2012 Beetle is packaged fairly simply. The base model is powered by the 2.5-liter, 170-hp, five-cylinder engine that is mated to a no-charge, five-speed manual transmission; The six-speed automatic is $1100. The 2.5-liter consists of three trims: base, one that lumps in the sunroof, and another that lumps in the sunroof, navigation, and a premium audio system.

Turbo models sport the 200-hp, 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and start at at $24,175, including destination. A six-speed manual is standard, while a six-speed, dual-clutch gearbox is $1100 more. The turbo Beetle is packaged similarly to the base engine; loaded examples — which include HID lights — push that price tag up to $30,865.

The 2012 Beetle will come standard with an impressive list of goodies such as tire pressure monitoring system, Bluetooth, ABS, 17-inch alloy wheels, and metallic paint. Deliveries start this fall.
