BMW Releases Dozens of Concept Active Tourer Interior Photos

By now, you’ve had a pretty good look at BMW’s Concept Active Tourer in advance of its Paris Motor Show debut. Our First Look story had a number of images, but until now, we didn’t have a good, close-up look at the show car’s interior.

Unsurprisingly, the Active Tourer interior is reminiscent of those used in BMW’s other recent electrified concept cars, the i3 commuter car and the i8 sports coupe. The cabin is light and airy, a feeling amplified by the gigantic, leaf-pattern skylight that stretches the length of the cabin. A taupe-like leather is used on door panels, instrument panel, and seating, and is accented by contrasting orange stitching, LED lighting (your choice of either a orange or blue hue), and milled wood accents.

Like both the i3 and i8, most controls and displays appear to have been inspired by modern tablet computers and smartphones (we’re looking at you, iPhone and iPad). A 10.25-inch screen replaces analog gauges, and allows the driver to scroll through a number of different displays. The driver can also adjust what information is portrayed on a retractable, multi-color heads-up display screen. Audio, climate, and iDrive controls appear rather traditional, but are replicated in a glassy form that matches the main cluster itself.

As previously reported, the front seatbacks boast a vertical metal rail that can be used as an attachment point for a range of accessories. These photos showcase iPad holders and flip-up tray tables, though BMW suggests a wide array of storage cubbies could also potentially be offered. The rear seatback is split 40/20/40, and it appears the center section has a similar rail system, allowing for installation of a deluxe armrest/ storage console.
