BMW Creates New X5 M Sports Package

BMW’s X6 isn’t the only crossover to receive some sporty dress-up parts. The automaker announced the advent of a new M Sports package for its X5 that will likely make its debut at next week’s Geneva motor show.

That BMW is readying an M Sports package to accompany the spring launch of the next X5 — with its more potent line of gasoline engines — should come as no surprise. The option group includes a raised speed limit, a sports-oriented chassis set-up, and 19-inch alloy wheels (20-inch rolling stock is optional for you dub hunters). New tailpipes poke from the rear; six-cylinder models boast the tips from the X5 xDrive50i.

Aesthetic additions include M bodywork and doorsills. Though “aerodynamically optimized,” the revised bodywork still includes the sensors and cameras in the driver assistance systems, meaning Park Distance Control and the Side View are available. The side frames and roof rails boast satin-finish aluminum and chrome. The M Sports package also adds Carbon Black metallic paint to the range of exterior colors. Inside are electrically adjustable sports seats, an M leather steering wheel, a redesigned footrest, and a smattering of brushed aluminum trim.

No details yet on price or availability, but we expect more information shortly.
