Audi is celebrating its production of 500,000 TT coupes and roadsters with a special edition. Only 500 of the limited-run TTS competition will be available, and – as far as we know – none to U.S. customers.
Since the TTS competition is based on the 2014 Audi TTS coupe and roadster, the special-edition car uses a 2.0-liter turbo-four, paired with either a six-speed manual or dual-clutch transmission, and Quattro all-wheel drive. Power output for the 2.0T is unchanged from the European-spec TTS at 272 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. (The U.S.-spec car is only rated for 265 hp.) Performance stays the same, as well: the dual-clutch-equipped coupe makes the dash from 0 to 62 mph in 5.3 seconds, while the roadster does it in 5.5 seconds; the manual transmission adds 0.2 seconds onto both times.
Given that Audi has left well enough alone in the powertrain department, the TTS competition has seen a number of aesthetic tweaks. Just two colors are available: Imola yellow or Nimbus gray, and a matte aluminum-look fixed rear wing is standard. TTS competition roadsters can be had with either a gray or black top. Unique 19-inch five-spoke “Rotor” alloy wheels are wrapped in aggressive 225/35 tires.
Inside, the TTS competition is decked out in steel gray leather with Imola yellow accents and contrast stitching. Special aluminum badging tells the customer what number out of the 500 units their car is. Also part of the competition package is a leather multifunction steering wheel and rear parking sensors.
Pricing for the limited-edition package is just €1900 on top of the €47,350 base price in Germany. For those not willing to shell out that much cash, Audi will also sell a similarly styled S line competition package for the non-S TT models. Sadly, as of now, neither package has been confirmed for U.S. sale.
