Despite tough times in 2008, Audi managed to hit its one million car sales goal with 3,400 cars to spare. Its sales in December alone were up 17.4 percent in comparison with the prior year.
The company attributes part of its success to the 12 new or upgraded models it had launched in the past year. Some of the more critical launches included the all-new 2009 A4 sedan and wagon and the new Q5 crossover.
Audi obtained the most growth in its European markets and in the Asia-Pacific region. The company managed to sell 667,000 cars in Western Europe, up 2.5 percent from last year. Meanwhile in the Asia-Pacific region, sales were up 15.6 percent compared to 2007 for a total of 155,100 new cars.
