The first official video of the Acura NSX prototype has appeared on the automaker’s Vine account only a few days after it tweeted teaser images of the upcoming supercar. In the six-second video, the NSX prototype can be seen – and heard – leaving the pits under load.
Although the video is short, it gives a preview of the upcoming NSX’s powertrain soundtrack as it takes off under wide open throttle. The automaker didn’t reveal where the video was shot, but it was likely taken at the same time as the teaser images in Ohio ahead of the Honda Indy 200 IndyCar Series race on August 4 where the Acura NSX prototype will lap the road course.
When the production model arrives sometime in 2015, it will be powered by a mid-engine V-6 mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and three electric motors: one for the rear wheels and one each for the front wheels for torque-vectoring under acceleration. The upcoming Acura NSX falls into lofty company with more expensive hybrid supercars such as the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and Porsche 918 Spyder.
While Acura showed the NSX concept’s exterior at the 2012 Detroit auto show, the automaker showed a revised NSX concept at the 2013 Detroit auto show with a full driver-focused interior. The single image and short-clip of the Acura NSX prototype are likely the first of many teasers to be release leading up to the car’s official debut.
