The 91-page Auto Club Green Guide ranks all 62 tested vehicles’ overall points and their best-value scores, as well as real-world evaluations. It also includes AAA resources for fuel-economy and aftermarket parts for “green” autos.
“The Auto Club Green Car Guide includes a wealth of information about what it means to be ‘green’, discusses current and future technologies and provides tips for motorists to be ‘greener’ with their existing vehicle,” said Steve Mazor, the Southern California Auto Club’s Automotive Research Center Manager and Chief Engineer, in a statement. “This is especially important in light of this year’s high gas prices that exceeded $4 per gallon.”
Test vehicles were chosen based on Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), fuel economy ratings and emission certification meeting CARB partial zero emissions vehicle (PZEV) standards. Tests were conducted by club members at the ARC in Diamond Bar, at the Auto Club Speedway and public roads. Test parameters were set by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), EPA, and the Auto Club of Southern California.
