What we have seen, though, doesn’t surprise us—the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 absolutely kills it at the dragway. The first time we took the super Stang to Milan Dragway in Michigan, we ran the quarter-mile in less than twelve seconds. On our first run. Most credit goes to the supercharged V-8 engine’s 662 horsepower and the GT500’s launch control system, but we’d like to think we had a little something to do with it, too. Not to mention our quick shifts when we were on the strip, we got the car’s rear tires hot and sticky before pulling up to the tree.
Every other run or so, before heading down the quarter-mile, we’d pull into the bleach box and light up the 305-section Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar G:2 tires. And each time we did, we were stunned. With traction control and stability control nixed, the tire-roasts were effortless to do and easy to maintain. Not to mention that they were very amusing to watch. So amusing that we needed to share one with you.
