We didn’t think the world’s worst-kept secret could be leaked any further, but rumor has it Ford has officially confirmed the 2011 Mustang GT will sport a new powertrain.
Fans of the 5.0-liter V-8 can apparently rejoice, as Inside Line reports several posts on Facebook — reportedly from a Ford employee in the know — possibly confirm such an engine will make its way into the 2011 Mustang GT. Power is estimated to be around 411 hp, and as we reported in our new car issue, the engine will be mated to your choice of a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
We’ll know more about the new engine (code-named “Coyote”) come December 28, when Ford is expected to show us more about the ever-unfolding Mustang portfolio. Stay with Automobile Magazine for the latest on the Five-Oh Mustang and other news from the 2010 Detroit auto show.
