2016 Nissan GT-R Adds 45th Anniversary Gold Edition
GT-R Premium and Black Edition also gain 5 hp.
Another model year for the Nissan GT-R means another round of mild updates for the high-performance coupe. Along with five extra horsepower for all non-Nismo GT-Rs, there is also a new Gold Edition GT-R meant to celebrate the 45th anniversary of this iconic performance model for Nissan.
The GT-R 45th Anniversary Gold Edition is based on the GT-R Premium model and will be a limited-run variant, with fewer than 30 units bound for the U.S. Its party piece is a unique gold exterior color that's the same "Silica Brass" hue that adorned the M-Spec variant of the Skyline GT-R R34 in 2001. The Gold Edition also has a gold VIN plate and a commemorative plaque on the center console to commemorate the GT-R's 45-year history.
The Gold Edition, along with the Premium and Black Edition trims of the 2016 Nissan GT-R, gain an extra 5 hp for 2016. This makes for a total of 550 hp from the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine thanks to slightly different tuning of the engine electronics. The GT-R Nismo's engine output is unchanged at 600 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque. The GT-R Premium also has new 20-spoke Rays alloy wheels as standard, replacing last year's 10-spoke design.
Pricing for the 2016 Nissan GT-R stays the same as well, with the GT-R Premium starting at $103,365, the GT-R Black Edition costing $113,105, and the GT-R Nismo topping the range at $151,585, all including destination. We don't yet know pricing for the 45th Anniversary Gold Edition, but expect to hear more about this special model as Nissan releases more information about its rollout. Other 2016 Nissan GT-R models are on sale now.
