The 2016 Ford F-750 Tonka dump truck concept shown at the NTEA Work Truck show brings the popular childhood toy to life. Ford worked in collaboration with Funrise Toy Corporation, which manufactures Tonka toys for Hasbro, to build the life-size Tonka dump truck.
Ford’s redesigned 2016 F-650/F-750 medium-duty truck chassis underpins the Tonka dump truck concept. In addition to the Tonka yellow paint, black grille, and Tonka graphics, the Ford F-750 Tonka dump truck concept features a functional dump body from Truck Tech Engineers.
For 2016, the redesigned Ford F-650/F-750 medium-duty chassis pickup gains new front fenders and headlights, and revised badging. The 2016 F-650/F-750 pickup line is available with PowerScope power telescoping and folding trailer tow mirrors with integrated spotter mirrors. Additionally, Ford revised the area behind the cab making it easier for aftermarket companies to add custom work bodies.
The truck is available in Regular Cab, SuperCab, and CrewCab bodies and with a straight-frame, dock-height frame, or new dedicated tractor model for heavy-duty towing jobs. Engine choices include Ford’s 6.8-liter V-10 gasoline engine with 320-hp and 460 lb-ft of torque or the automaker’s 6.7-liter Powestroke turbodiesel V-8 available in three power levels: 270 hp and 675 lb-ft, 300 hp and 700 lb-ft, or 330 hp and 725 lb-ft. Both engines are backed by a six-speed automatic transmission. Powerstroke engines come with a five-year/250,000-mile warranty.
Max GVWR for the 2016 Ford F-750 is rated at 33,000 pounds on a 158-inch wheelbase, while the F-750 Tonka’s Truck Tech Engineers dump body is rated at 17,000 pounds.
Built in Ohio, the redesigned 2016 Ford F-650 and F-750 will go on sale this summer. Sadly this Tonka version will only be used for promotional events, and isn’t available for purchase.
