As on other Volvo cars, the Inscription package for the XC60 and S80 consists primarily of visual and trim enhancements. On either car, look for Inscription Sovereign Hide soft leather seating, a soft-touch leather instrument panel and surfaces, wood-panel inlays, special-edition floor mats, and Inscription-logo embroidering. Color options for the exterior will include Crystal White Pearl, Electric Silver, and Ember Black (for the S80 only). Upgraded ten-spoke wheels also come with the Inscription package, which measure 19 inches for the Volvo S80 and 20 inches for the Volvo XC60.
Starting this summer, new Volvos (other than the XC90, which is due for a replacement at the end of 2014) will also get the Sensus connect modern infotainment and navigation system. The new technology makes available a host of cloud-based services and features, and includes a premium Harman Kardon sound system and 3D mapping.
The base 2014 Volvo XC60, with a 3.2-liter 240-hp straight-six engine, starts at $34,850 including destination. Volvo uses the same powertrain in its base 2014 Volvo S80, which begins at $39,900. However, the new Inscription package will only be available on for the 300-hp 2014 Volvo S80 T6 AWD ($44,875) and the new 2.0-liter, 302-hp four-cylinder T6 Drive-E version of the 2014 Volvo XC60 ($40,975). Customers will be able to add the Inscription package to these models for $2300.
