The 2015 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar editions will be exclusive, hot-ticket items in the United States. Volvo is now taking orders for these high-performance sedan and wagon variants of which only 120 total will come to our shores. If you’re interested in purchasing one, act fast, as many examples of the $60,225 sedan and the $61,825 wagon have already been spoken for at the time of this writing.
The 2015 Volvo S60 Polestar sedan will be the rarer of the two, as only 40 of the allocated 120 cars will be S60 models, with the remaining 80 Polestar cars in the U.S. designated as V60 Polestar wagons. The sedan starts slightly cheaper at $60,225 including destination, and the wagon’s $1600 higher starting price about corresponds with the pricing structure of the standard S60 and V60.
The 2015 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar models are available only in two colors: Black Sapphire and Rebel Blue. All Polestar high-performance models are powered by a 345-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder engine that mates to an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. They also feature an upgraded suspension and some special interior and exterior trim to set them apart from the mainstream S60 and V60 models.
While more than $60,000 seems like a high price to pay for these Volvos given the much more powerful, 425-hp 2015 BMW M3’s starting cost of $62,925, interested customers have proved undeterred. According to Volvo’s order website at the time of this writing, 34 cars have already been sold, with the rest either pending sale finalization or set to go to one of Volvo’s 56 Polestar-authorized dealers throughout the country..
