2015 Subaru BRZ Adds Series.Blue Model

Just like its mechanical twin, the Scion FR-S, the Subaru BRZ receives a handful of tweaks and changes for the 2015 model year. The most notable update is the addition of a new Series.Blue model, which is limited to just 1000 cars.

Despite the name, only half of the 2015 Subaru BRZ Series.Blue cars will be painted WR Blue Pearl, with the other 500 to be sold in Crystal White Pearl. Inside, however, the car benefits from blue seats, a blue-and-black leather-wrapped steering wheel, blue center console and door trim, and blue-stitched floor mats. All of the special-edition cars come with a six-speed manual transmission.

On the outside, the 2015 Subaru BRZ Series.Blue coupes benefit from new a STI body kit that comprises new front, side, and rear lips, which are said to reduce aerodynamic lift and lower the car’s overall drag coefficient from 0.28 to 0.27. Red-painted brake calipers sit behind special STI-branded 17-inch wheels.

Aside from the Series.Blue, all version of the 2015 Subaru BRZ benefit from the same upgrades as were bestowed on the 2015 Scion FR-S. Retuned rear suspension dampers are said to create, “a more enjoyable driving experience,” the exhaust tips are now larger, the dashboard receives carbon fiber-look trim, and a sharkfin-style antenna replaces the previous pole-design one.

Pricing for the car thus inches up slightly, with the 2015 Subaru BRZ Premium now starting at $26,490 with destination, an increase of $100. The BRZ Limited is $28,490 with a manual transmission or $29,590 with an automatic, while the new BRZ Series.Blue will cost $30,285. The 2015 Subaru BRZ goes on sale in July.
