We already knew about its angrier looks, thanks to a comprehensive new body kit, and now Saleen has confirmed that its take on the 2015 Ford Mustang, the 2015 Saleen 302, will offer either 450 hp or 640 hp, depending on which of three packages buyers choose.
The 2015 Saleen 302 starts with the White Label package, which endows the Mustang GT’s 5.0-liter V-8 with new computer software, a new intake and exhaust, and new fuel injectors, bumping output to 450 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. That’s compared to the 435 hp and 400 lb-ft from a standard 2015 Ford Mustang GT’s 5.0-liter V-8. Handling upgrades include new springs, a strut-tower brace, new anti-roll bar bushings, and high-performance tires wrapped on new 20-inch diameter, nine-inch-wide wheels. Enlarged front and rear brakes gripped by four-piston front calipers are included, too.
Visual changes compared to a standard 2015 Ford Mustang GT consist of a new vented hood, a Saleen-designed front grille, a new rear wing, a restyled taillight panel, various Saleen exterior decals and striping, embroidered headrests, white instrument cluster gauge faces, and embroidered Saleen floor mats.
The next step up is the 2015 Saleen 302 Yellow Label, which fits the Mustang’s V-8 with a supercharger that boosts output to 640 hp and 565 lb-ft. Handling, braking, and visual modifications match those of the 2015 Saleen 302 White Label, although the interior does benefit from a boost gauge so the driver can keep tabs on the supercharger.
The final version of the 2015 Saleen 302 is the Black Label, which builds on the Yellow Label with an even more aggressive visual treatment. A new front fascia has LED running lights, brake-cooling ducts, and openings for a higher-capacity radiator; carbon-fiber ducting channels more air to the front brakes; a carbon-fiber rear diffuser is said to improve aerodynamic downforce; and the car’s seats are trimmed in leather and Alcantara. Beneath the shiny bodywork, the Black Label also benefits from unique shock absorbers and springs, as well as stiffer Saleen anti-roll bars.
Saleen is accepting orders for its three 302 versions of the 2015 Ford Mustang GT now. Customers can reserve one of the cars for $2015, which guarantees buyers a VIN in the Saleen 302 production run. Pricing for the cars themselves, however, has yet to be confirmed.
