We already got a look at the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class prior to its Frankfurt Motor Show debut next month. Now, our spy shooter has nabbed the hotter GLA45 AMG undergoing testing at the Nürburgring again.
This example of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG looks to have shed some of the bulky camouflage that was clad on the last GLA45 we saw. This one is also white – rather than black – giving us a slightly better look at the body of the latest AMG model. That said, the lower front and rear fascias are still covered in a swirly vinyl wrap, obscuring what we assume to be enlarged front air intakes and a more-aggressive rear diffuser (which we can just barely make out here). Since we know what the 2015 GLA250 and the 2014 CLA45 AMG both look like, it’s not hard to make the leap to imagine the GLA45 AMG.
The GLA- and CLA-Classes ride on the same front-wheel-drive platform and share engines and transmissions in lesser guises, so expect the GLA45 to also share the same 355-hp 2.0-liter turbo-four as the CLA45, the seven-speed automatic transmission, and standard 4Matic all-wheel drive developed specially by AMG. The 2014 CLA45 AMG takes 4.5 seconds to dash from 0-60 mph; expect the GLA45 to be close to that number, as well.
Given that the CLA45 starts at $48,375, including destination, don’t expect the GLA45 to ring in at less than $50,000 when it rolls into showrooms. Since the standard GLA-Class doesn’t go on sale until the end of 2014 and beginning of 2015, don’t expect the 2015 GLA45 AMG to hit dealerships until the spring or summer of 2015.
