After a refresh last year that brought the Lexus spindle grille to the RX crossover, the 2015 Lexus RX350 and RX450h hybrid are updated for 2015 with new standard equipment and a few option changes. Accompanying the new equipment is a slightly higher starting price of $41,705 for the RX350 and $48,355 for the RX450h, both including destination and both representing increases of $1035.
All 2015 Lexus RX models now come standard with a standard seven-inch display screen and backup camera. Both of these features were previously optional as part of a $2775 navigation package on Lexus RX350 models or a $5640 navigation package on Lexus RX450h models. Other changes for 2015 include a new five-spoke wheel design as part of the Premium and Luxury packages and new LED foglamps that pair with the optional HID and LED headlights. Lexus also says that the RX’s Remote Touch infotainment controller has been revised for improved ease of use.
The Lexus RX350 is powered exclusively by a 270-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 engine that pairs with either front-wheel-drive as standard or all-wheel drive for an extra $1400. The RX450h hybrid mates an Atkinson-cycle version of this 3.5-liter V-6 with various electric-drive motors for a total power output of 295 hp. All-wheel drive is also available on the Lexus RX450h, but it uses a rear-mounted electric motor to provide power to the rear wheels when needed. There is also a sport-oriented Lexus RX350 F-Sport model available, which comes standard with all-wheel drive, starts at $48,535 and gains an eight-speed automatic transmission in place of the standard car’s six-speed transmission.
