2015 Hyundai Genesis Spied Without Camouflage

Genesis spied without camouflage.

This photo gives us our first look at the 2015 Hyundai Genesis without camouflage. Posted to a South Korean blog, the photo reveals the all-new luxury sedan that is likely to debut at the 2014 Detroit auto show in January.

Although there are some lines in common, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis doesn’t appear to share much in terms of design with the wild HCD-14 concept shown at this year’s Detroit show. Instead, we see hints of Infiniti styling in the nose. It tapers toward a tall, trapezoidal grille and boasts large headlights ringed with LED running lights. The rest of the body is fairly plain aside from a prominent crease that extends from the front fender to the taillights.

The car seen here closely matches our spy photos (pictured below), which showed that the 2015 Hyundai Genesis will slightly evolve the design seen on the current luxury sedan. Inside, expect a major refresh that includes a toggle-style electronic gear shifter, a new horizontal arrangement for the dashboard, more wood trim, and some revisions to the layout of the climate controls and touchscreen.

Although it’s not yet clear what engines and transmissions will be used in the 2015 Hyundai Genesis, we know the car will offer all-wheel drive in addition to its current rear-drive configuration. Hyundai CEO John Krafcik told us as much last summer, and the company recently confirmed its plans for a system called HTRAC, or Hyundai Traction.

The 2015 Hyundai Genesis is expected to launch in Korea later this year. Hyundai CEO Krafcik told us that the car will debut Stateside at the 2014 Detroit auto show in January.
