Audi has shown a brief video teaser of the refreshed 2015 Audi A8 flagship sedan before its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The video, released on Audi’s German YouTube channel, shows a brief shot of the grille, the wheel, and the front fender. From what we can see, we don’t expect a major styling departure for the 2015 Audi A8, especially considering that this is a refresh rather than a full redesign. The current Audi A8 was introduced for the 2010 model year, and a complete redesign isn’t expected until 2016. As such, this refresh probably will not see any major powertrain updates to the currently available 3.0-liter supercharged V-6, 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8, 6.3-liter W-12, and the-for-2014 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6.
We’ve seen spy shots of the refreshed Audi A8 already, and the changes seem to include front and rear fascia updates along with new headlight and taillight designs. The 2015 Audi A8 will also feature Audi’s new LED Matrix headlights, which uses 25 individual LEDs in each headlight along with a camera that checks for oncoming traffic. These advanced headlights boast multiple party tricks like pedestrian detection and adaptive high beams, but have yet to be approved for America. We expect this certification to be approved before the U.S.-spec A8 debuts sometime next year.
Check back on August 21 for the official reveal of the 2015 Audi A8.
