If you like the look of the Ram 1500 Black Package but wish you could pair it with the capability of a heavy-duty pickup truck, you’re in luck. Chrysler’s Ram Trucks division announced today that the Black Package will soon be rolled out across the 2014 Ram 2500 and 2014 Ram 3500 pickup trucks.
Despite the move into the beefier Ram models, the basics of the Black Package remain unchanged. 2014 Ram 2500 and 3500 Black Package models obviously include black exterior paint, but also utilize 20-inch black aluminum wheels, black grille surround and inserts, and body-color bumpers. Grille and tailgate emblems are painted black, while other badges – with the exception of the Cummins insignia applied to Ram trucks ordered with the hallowed 6.7-liter turbo-diesel six-cylinder – is completely eliminated from the sides of the truck. Blacked-out headlamp bezels are also included, as are LED turn signals and tail lamps. As an added bonus, the Ram 2500/3500 Black Package also includes a rear-view camera and park sensors as standard equipment.
The Black Package adds $1695 to the price tag of a 2014 Ram 2500 or 3500. According to Ram, you can order the heavy duty Black Package on both two- and four-wheel drive Ram 2500 and 3500 models, provided you order either a crew or mega cab, and spring for either the Big Horn/ Lone Star or Laramie trim packages. There is one catch, however: on Ram 3500 models, the Black Package is restricted to single-rear-wheel models, meaning you won’t be able to order a bad-ass, blacked-out dually directly from the factory.
