For the 2014 model year, the Ram 1500 pickup truck will once again be offered with a Mossy Oak Edition package. The trim package, produced in partnership with outdoor camouflage manufacturer Mossy Oak, was introduced in 2011 but wasn’t available for the 2013 Ram 1500.
As before, the 2014 Ram 1500 Mossy Oak Edition is primarily a visual upgrade, based on the Ram Outdoorsman 4×4 Crew Cab, adding the company’s famous camouflage graphics on the tailgate, lower door cladding, and rear quarter panels. A Mossy Oak logo is displayed when the truck’s infotainment system starts and also adorns each of the four headrests, while several interior trim pieces are also covered in the camouflage graphics. Customers can also option their special-edition Ram 1500 with Katzkin leather seat covers bearing Mossy Oak embroidery.
One change for 2014 is that the Mossy Oak Edition will now be available with the Ram 1500 RamBox, special storage compartments integrated into the sides of the pickup bed. The package is available on trucks with either a 5’7″ bed or a 6’4″ bed.
Ram says that this sort of partnership appeals strongly to its buyers, whom are generally active outdoors. According to the company’s own data, 30 percent of Ram 1500 owners regularly go hunting, 44 percent enjoy fishing, 27 regularly tow boats, and 42 percent camp.
The 2014 Ram 1500 Mossy Oak Edition is available only in black, black gold pearl, or prairie peal exterior paint colors. Pricing starts at $41,180 after an $1195 destination charge, representing a premium of just $190 compared to a standard 2014 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman 4×4 Crew Cab with 5’7″ bed. The trucks will be on sale later this year.
