Standing atop the 2014 Porsche Panamera model range is the new Porsche Panamera Turbo S. With 570 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, customers willing to pay $181,295 including delivery can now reach 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, and hit a top speed of 192 mph.
Compared to the standard the 2014 Porsche Panamera Turbo, which has 520 hp and a 0-to-60-mph time of 3.9 seconds, the Turbo S receives two new turbochargers, aluminum-alloy pistons, and specially coated piston rings for its 4.8-liter V-8 engine. Torque reaches 553 lb.-ft between 2,250 and 5,000 rpm, but overboost momentarily shoots this figure up to 590 lb.-ft.
In addition to the engine rework, Porsche refined its seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission for the Panamera Turbo S, making shifts faster and smoother than ever. Standard Porsche Traction Management distributes torque between all four wheels, the Sport Chrono package enables the driver to control driving modes and engage the overboost function, and launch control maximizes acceleration off the line. The standard carbon-ceramic brakes offer increased stopping power, as well as better handling because they are 50 percent lighter than the standard brakes. Active suspension and variable torque vectoring steering are also standard.
The Porsche Panamera Turbo S also has an improved appearance and sound. Wider 20-inch 911 Turbo II wheels, exclusive Palladium Metallic paint, a four-way rear spoiler, and an optional sport exhaust system which pumps engine sound directly into the cabin, distinguish the Turbo S from the rest of the pack.
For customers who think they might need more space inside Porsche is now offering for the first time a long-wheelbase Executive version of the Panamera Turbo S. This long-wheelbase option, also available on the standard Porsche Panamera Turbo, is listed at $201,495 including destination. With an added 5.9 inches in the wheelbase, the Porsche Panamera Turbo S Executive adds plenty more space and comfort for rear passengers, including 4.7 more inches in the rear footwell. An interior lighting package and specially insulated windows with privacy glazing combine to keep the outside world at bay.
The 2014 Porsche Panamera Turbo S will make its world debut at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show in November.
