Porsche announced today a special version of its Cayenne SUV called the Platinum Edition. Based on the entry V-6 or diesel models, the 2014 Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition is on sale now, with the first deliveries scheduled for January 2014.
Visual changes for the 2014 Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition begin with an exclusive Carrera White Metallic paint option, 16-inch Cayenne Design II wheels with a colored center cap, and exterior trim pieces painted in Platinum Silver Metallic. A special Black Luxor Beige two-tone treatment is reserved for the partial-leather upholstery, along with a SportDesign steering wheel with paddle shifters, embossed headrests and floor mats, and shiny door-sill plates with a Platinum Edition script.
The Platinum treatment also endows the Porsche Cayenne with additional standard equipment, including Power Steering Plus, parking sensors, touchscreen navigation, bi-xenon headlights, heated front seats, a sunroof, and a Bose surround-sound system with 14 speakers and a total of 585 watts.
The standard 2014 Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition is based on the base Cayenne V-6, and uses that model’s 300-hp, 3.6-liter V-6 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. It costs $64,295 after destination, an increase of $13,700 over a standard 2014 Porsche Cayenne V-6.
The 2014 Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition is also available in diesel guise, with a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 engine good for 240 hp and EPA fuel-economy ratings of 20/29 mpg (city/highway). It costs $67,895 after destination, or $10,300 more than a standard diesel-powered Porsche Cayenne.
