Lexus will use its display at next week’s Specialty Equipment Market Association show to highlight both its new 2014 Lexus IS sports sedan and the 2012 Lexus LFA carbon-fiber supercar. All of the models on display have, of course, been extensively modified by a variety of different automotive tuners.
Philip Chase will display a 2014 Lexus IS350 that has been turned into an IS340. The name change stems from the fact that Chase’s car now packs a Toyota 2JZ-GT3 engine, a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that Chase has stroked to 3.4 liters and now produces more than 700 hp. A Modellista five-piece body kit, custom carbon-fiber hood vents, 18-inch Advan wheels, and Sparco bucket seats complete the transformation.
Gordon Ting built a 2014 Lexus IS350 AWD with a roof rack to carry Lexus’s custom, limited-edition carbon-fiber road bike. Red lightweight Rays wheels and a Toyota Racing Development body kit enhance the outside, while a roll cage, Sparco leather race seats, and harnesses transform the car’s cabin. Under the hood, the car sports a new intake and exhaust from GReddy, a coil-over suspension from Tein USA, and upgraded Brembo brakes.
Shown here in a rendering, the 2014 Lexus IS250 F-Sport modified by Paul Tolson and Gabriel Escobedo has a custom wide-body kit wearing special Orange Mercury and Galaxy Root Beer paint. Nineteen-inch wheels surround enlarged brakes from Rotara Inc., while the car’s 2.5-liter V-6 engine benefits from a new intake and exhaust.
Tuning company Seibon Carbon showed off its talents by crafting a new hood, trunk, fenders, front and rear lips, and side skirts for a 2014 Lexus IS350 F-Sport — all from carbon fiber, of course. In addition, the car wears 20-inch Volk Racing wheels and features new suspension components, a new intake, and a new exhaust.
Vossen Wheels will present perhaps the most visible 2014 Lexus IS350 F-Sport at Lexus’s SEMA stand, painting their car in a custom Pearl Yellow paint cribbed from the LFA supercar. Twenty-inch wheels surround upgraded Brembo brakes and are wrapped in Nitto Invo tires. A new Tommy Kaira body kit, an RS-R Black-I series suspension, and a Tommy Kaira dual exhaust round out the modifications.
An upgraded 2012 Lexus LFA will also be present, and the 552-hp, 4.8-liter V-10-powered supercar wears a new carbon-fiber body kit from Artisan Spirits. There are new 20-inch wheels at each corner, shod in ultra-sticky Toyo Proxes R888 tires, as well as satin-chrome painted exterior trim.
At the 2013 SEMA show, Lexus will also show off a 2014 Lexus IS350 modified by VIP Auto Salon based on input from users at the online artists’ social network DeviantArt. Although no photos of the car are available yet, Lexus says the IS350 will have a one-off custom body kit, 20-inch wheels, an air suspension, “Ultra White” paint, carbon-fiber interior trim, and upgraded Brembo brakes.
