Kia will roll out the European version of the 2014 Kia Soul at the Frankfurt Motor Show in a few weeks, and the Euro-spec Soul will be available with what Kia is calling an “SUV styling pack” to butch up the appearance of the boxy Soul.
The SUV styling pack is an appearance package only, with black bumper garnishes, side skirts, wheel arches, and a black roof that make the Soul look more like a compact crossover. Other than the SUV styling pack, the European 2014 Kia Soul will offer buyers a few more options for customization, like a choice of black, white, or red roof colors.
There do not seem to be any mechanical modifications to the 2014 Kia Soul with the SUV styling pack, and it continues to be a front-wheel-drive only vehicle. Still, this look is popular in Europe, with many automakers giving SUV styling treatments to cars like the Volvo V40 Cross Country, the Audi Allroad, and the Fiat 500L Trekking, the latter two of which are offered in the U.S. as well.
The 2014 Kia Soul will go on sale in Europe in early 2014. Kia has not yet revealed which engines will power the European Soul, but we would expect the 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engines from the U.S.-spec Soul along with a diesel or two for the European market.
There is no word yet on whether the SUV styling pack will be available in the U.S. in the future, but keep an eye out for the rugged-looking Soul on the floor in Frankfurt starting September 10.
